Tesla recently reclaimed the global EV sales crown from BYD, and that’s largely down to the continued popularity of the Model Y crossover. The EV segment has been chaotic in recent months, with many models discontinued and new rivals emerging, but the Model Y is soldiering on as the most popular electric crossover on sale. If you want to lease a Model Y, there are five trims to choose from, so here’s a look at the current deals being offered by Tesla this April.

Model Y Specifications

Although some rivals have caught up, the Tesla Model Y’s combination of range, performance, and pricing remains one of the best. Even the base RWD variant can hit 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and has a 321-mile range. Go for the AWD model, and the 0-60 time drops to 4.6 seconds, but this does decrease the range to 294 miles. The Premium RWD model has the best range on a full charge at 357 miles, and its 0-60 time is a rapid 5.4 seconds. For the Premium AWD, expect a 327-mile range and a 4.6-second sprint time.
The Model Y Performance is in another league. Its dual-motor setup allows for a supercar-like 3.3-second 0-60 sprint. Even with this performance on tap, the range is still solid at 306 miles.
All Model Y derivatives are available with the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) suite for $99 per month. Unlike all rivals, the Model Y can drive itself almost anywhere with no human intervention, although the driver must remain alert at all times and be ready to take control of the wheel if prompted.
Final Thoughts
Tesla’s lineup isn’t the freshest anymore, and neither is it the most comprehensive, since the Model X and Model S have been discontinued. The company’s robotics business is getting more attention than its cars, too. Even so, the Model Y is impossible to ignore if you’re in the market for an electric crossover. It’s quick, very efficient, has a spacious cabin, and enjoys lower running costs than an equivalent gas-powered vehicle. If this is the kind of car you’re after, the Model Y still deserves to be on your shortlist.
