(KRON) — Authorities are searching for an electric motorcycle rider who got away during a police chase in Windsor on Tuesday morning. The rider evaded police “with complete disregard for his own safety and the safety of others,” the Windsor Police Department said.
The e-moto rider was seen running red lights, riding on sidewalks and cutting through town parks before 8 a.m., according to police. A photo released by Windsor PD shows an officer on a motorcycle riding on a sidewalk closely behind a person wearing all black riding a black e-motorcycle.

“These vehicles can reach high speeds and must be ridden responsibly and legally on public streets,” police said. “Unsafe riding puts the rider, pedestrians, and other motorists at risk of serious injury or worse.”
E-motorcycles require the rider to have a license, registration and helmet. Parents can be held financially and legally responsible when their children ride e-bikes or e-motorcycles in violation of new laws that went into effect Jan. 1 in California.
