Toyota has launched the sixth-generation RAV4, debuting the Arene platform and a PHEV system with up to 137km electric range

Toyota has launched the sixth-generation RAV4 in Europe, introducing the Arene software development platform for the first time alongside a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system offering up to 137km of electric range on the WLTP combined cycle. The model is available in hybrid and PHEV variants with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

The Arene platform underpins a new ToyotaConnect multimedia system and an updated Toyota Safety Sense suite, with the onboard processor running four times faster than the previous generation. Safety additions include a Rear Vehicle Approach Indicator, Front Cross Traffic Alert and a Secondary Collision Brake system that brings the vehicle to a stop automatically following an impact.

The new PHEV system features a 22.68 kW/h lithium-ion battery — 30% greater capacity than its predecessor — and supports a 50 kW DC fast charger, enabling a 10-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes. An 11 kW AC charger, twice the speed of the previous unit, is also included. In all-wheel drive specification, total system output reaches 309 DIN hp with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds.

The hybrid variant delivers up to 5.8 litres per 100km on the WLTP combined cycle and produces 194 DIN hp in all-wheel drive form. A GR Sport grade is also offered, featuring dedicated suspension tuning, aerodynamic upgrades and exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels.

The sixth-generation RAV4 is now available to order across Europe.
