Toyota has announced that the new sixth-generation RAV4 will be priced at £43,845 when it goes on sale later this year.

The RAV4 kick-started the SUV trend and six generations later, it has gone on to be one of the world’s best-selling cars.

The latest model will be available in four trims: Icon, Design, Excel and GR Sport.

The entry-level Icon features 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and steering wheel, a powered tailgate and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. The Design is priced at £45,745 and adds 20-inch black alloy wheels, a bi-tone exterior paint finish, electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats and a wireless smartphone charger.

The GR Sport adds exclusive exterior and interior enhancements. (Toyota)The GR Sport adds exclusive exterior and interior enhancements. (Toyota)

The Excel comes in at £50,045 and boasts leather upholstery, a head-up display, an additional wireless smartphone charger and a JBL premium audio system. Sitting at the top-of-the-range is the £52,045 GR Sport, adding lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels, a tuned chassis and suspension setup, a GR-branded front grille, steering wheel and front seats, as well as unique GR Sport exterior styling.

For the UK market, the RAV4 will come exclusively as a plug-in hybrid, which uses a 2.5-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor and 22.68kWh battery pack. The Icon, Design and Excel grades will come with a front-wheel drive setup that develops 268bhp, while an all-wheel drive setup is available as an option on Excel models and standard on the GR Sport. It produces 305bhp while Toyota claims the car can travel up to 85 miles on electric power.

Orders will open in May with deliveries expected to commence in June, though the regular hybrid model is not expected to come to the UK.
