In March, a large group of juvenile e-bike and bike riders gathered in Menifee, causing traffic disruptions throughout the city. During the meetup, one rider got into an altercation with a motorist and punched off the vehicle’s side mirror.
Thanks to a detailed description from the driver and the use of our Drone First Responder Program, officers quickly located the rider along with several others in the group. Units coordinated from multiple directions, safely contacted the group, and identified the responsible juvenile while others fled.
During the investigation, officers also located a nicotine vape on the suspect. The victim positively identified the juvenile, leading to an arrest.
The juvenile’s Surron bike, which is NOT street legal, was impounded.
We want our community to enjoy riding and being outdoors, but not at the expense of safety. Riding in roadways and engaging in reckless or aggressive behavior puts everyone at risk.
