Hyundai is teasing a pair of new concept cars called the Venus and the Earth.
The teaser images show bodywork with crisp lines and thin, simple LED lighting.
It’s unclear exactly when and where these concepts will be revealed, but we do expect to see them before the end of this month.
Hyundai’s lineup of Ioniq-branded EVs has drawn praise for providing strong electric driving range, commendable driving dynamics, and rapid recharging at a reasonable price. But the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 9, and now discontinued Ioniq 6 also stood out for their retrofuturistic styling, characterized by a pixel motif in the lighting and sharp body creases. But now it appears that Hyundai may be embarking on a new design journey for its Ioniq arsenal, teasing a pair of intriguing concept cars.

Hyundai
There’s not much information yet; Hyundai so far has just shared two images and two names. One concept will be dubbed Venus, while the other will wear the name Earth. We wonder how Lucid will feel about the latter, since that American startup is planning a new electric SUV using the Earth nameplate. The caption accompanying the Hyundai teaser images reads: “Designed as a cosmic statement. Engineered for humans. Marking another beginning of Ioniq’s grand narrative.”
Hyundai didn’t spell out which name applies to which image, and the two shadowy images don’t reveal much. One shows a gold car from the rear, with the center section of the rear fascia finished in black and thin, simple taillights that just barely cut into the gold bodywork. There’s also a small lip spoiler that flows around the side of the vehicle, and a sloping fastback roofline.

The other image shows the front of a silver car, with the headlights comprising a narrow horizontal LED line and two angled LED elements that form a forward-pointing arrow. This motif is echoed in crisp creases in the bodywork just ahead of the front doors. The vehicle has an extremely short hood and a raked windshield that extends well ahead of the front doors.
We’re not quite sure what body style these concepts will take, although the black cladding around the wheel well of the silver vehicle makes us think that one is an SUV. The cab-forward look and angled headlights also remind us of a recent Kia concept, the Meta Turismo. We also don’t know just yet when and where the Venus and Earth will be revealed, but the Beijing auto show and Milan Design Week, both happening in April, seem like good candidates. Stay tuned.
