Hyundai is not the only brand that noted positive all-electric car sales in the US last quarter. Toyota and its premium Lexus brand also report strong EV sales in Q1 2026, both setting all-time quarterly records.

Toyota & Lexus EV Sales: Q1 2026

In Q1, the Japanese group sold a record 14,485 all-electric cars (Toyota bZ and Lexus RZ). That’s more than twice the Q1 2025 sales result and a record 2.5% of total volume.

It seems that the upgraded 2026 Toyota bZ and 2026 Lexus RZ, with more range, more power, NACS charging port, and access to the Tesla Supercharging network (Toyota since October/Lexus since November 2025), have been well received.

Toyota bZ sales totaled 10,029 (up nearly 79% year-over-year), exceeding those of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (9,790).

The Lexus RZ noted 4,456 sales during the period (up over 206% year-over-year). With such results, all-electric cars represents 5.5% of Lexus’s total sales.

Overall, more than half of the group’s sales are electrified vehicles (HEVs, BEVs, or PHEVs), with a marginal contribution from FCEVs, although plug-ins still have a long road ahead.

More EV Models Coming

The most recent sales surge might be just the beginning of something bigger, as Toyota has three additional all-electric models scheduled for market launch in 2026.

Toyota and Lexus are also strengthening their home EV charging installation offer by partnering with Treehouse.
