Tesla opens orders for the Model Y L, a six-seat electric SUV with extended wheelbase, in eight Asian markets. Features include 681 km range and 5-second acceleration.
Tesla has officially opened orders for the Model Y L, a six-seat electric SUV with an extended wheelbase, in eight key Asian markets: Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
This move signals a significant expansion of the family-oriented Tesla Model Y L lineup, which first debuted in China back in August 2025.
The Model Y L targets the rapidly growing demand for electric vehicles in Asia, where family buyers want practical cars without sacrificing performance or luxury. Tesla is thus competing with a growing number of local manufacturers offering affordable three-row models.
The Model Y L features larger dimensions: it measures 4,976 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm, which is 179 mm longer and 150 mm more in wheelbase than the standard Model Y. The vehicle’s height has also increased slightly to 1,668 mm, enabling a true 2+2+2 three-row layout with separate captain’s chairs in the second row for easier access to the third row.
This dual-motor, all-wheel-drive SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about 5 seconds (or 4.5 seconds in some variants) and has a top speed of 201 km/h. It offers a WLTP range of up to 681 km, thanks to a battery capacity of approximately 88–97 kWh (depending on the market) and support for DC fast charging at up to 250 kW.
