French automaker Renault is finishing off the financial year in style with a limited time, drive-away price of $49,990 for its battery electric Megane E-Tech hatchback crossover SUV.

Following on from where the previous offer left off – a $45,990 drive-away sale which ended on March 31 – Renault Australia announced today that the Megane E-Tech electric hatchback will be available from $49,990 between 1 April and 30 June and while stocks last.

“We are doing our bit to help motorists make the switch to electric cars during the current fuel crisis,” said Glen Sealey, general manager of Renault Australia.

“This limited-time drive-way offer in the lead-up to tax time – which amounts to savings equivalent to the GST plus free on-road costs – will help people get into a European electric car at an attainable price point.”

The very European-looking Megane E-Tech has been highly touted in Australia thanks to its 60kWh battery pack and a maximum driving range of 454 kilometres (WLTP). A single electric motor delivers power of 160kW and maximum torque of 300 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Inside, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and large infotainment display is blended with analogue buttons and dials.

20-inch alloy wheels and low-profile tyres, four driving modes, and a choice of four levels of battery regeneration all combine to make the Megane E-Tech an attractive proposition for those with the budget to consider a new $50,000 car.

The $49,990 drive-away price is available once savings equivalent to the GST and free on-road costs have been applied and is applicable to models with the solid white paintwork and a black roof. For those wanting a bit of choice in their car’s colour, metallic paint adds a further $400 while two-tone paint combinations cost $800.

The Renault Megane E-Tech is also covered by a five-year/100,000km warranty and comes with five years of roadside assistance. The Megane’s battery pack is covered by a warranty of eight years/160,000km (or 70 per cent capacity), and service intervals are set at 12 months/30,000km, whichever comes first.
