Why are diesel hybrids so rare? The fuel efficiency is great. 40-50 mpg and the s350de boasts 700 miles of range. They aren’t slow either. E300de goes 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. E300De starts at 79k eur (only sold in Europe) but it is a luxury vehicle. Why don’t we get diesel hybrid technology in more affordable brands? The fuel efficiency is great. 516lb ft of torque out of the e300de and 300+ hp. I guess diesel is expensive here, but elsewhere in Europe it’s cheap. I never understood why they don’t make them. I guess they’re quite heavy. Imagine seeing a diesel hybrid in a cheaper car with 500+ miles of range and 50 mpg.
