Roads and pavements near the incident have been closed
Roads in the centre of Cambridge have been closed to both vehicles and pedestrians after a collision involving a car and an e-bike.
Emergency services were called to the incident on Newmarket Road, in Cambridge, at 00:20 GMT.
According to the East of England Ambulance Service, two people had to be transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.
Road closures remain in place on Coldhams Lane and River Lane and from Newmarket Road to Elizabeth Way, which police say “are likely to result in long delays”.
“Please avoid the area and find alternative routes. Routes will also be closed to pedestrians,” a police spokesperson said.
The ambulance service told the BBC it had sent two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and a response car from East Anglian Air Ambulance to the scene in the early hours.
“We were called just before 12:20 this morning with reports of a road traffic collision on Newmarket Road, Cambridge, involving a car and an e-bike,” a spokesperson said.
“Two patients were transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further care.”
