A 13-year-old girl riding an electric bicycle was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after a collision with a vehicle at a Coral Springs gas station, authorities said.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. at a Shell gas station at Coral Ridge Drive and Holmberg Road, according to Coral Springs police.
Investigators said the girl suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department rushed the teen to a nearby field at Parkridge Church, where she was transferred to a helicopter and flown to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators, police said. The crash remained under investigation Wednesday.
Coral Springs is hosting a town hall later this month to educate residents about electric bicycles, following a rash of rider injuries stemming from collisions with automobiles.
