
SANTEE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a juvenile was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding an e-motorcycle near Mission Gorge Road on Tuesday. The suspected vehicle then fled the scene, according to authorities.
According to SDSO, at around 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a juvenile operating an e-motorcycle. The investigation revealed that the rider of the e-motorcycle was reportedly in the roadway, creating a traffic hazard, when they were struck by a passing vehicle.
The collision caused the juvenile to lose control and fall from the e-motorcycle, according to SDSO. The driver of the vehicle then reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
The juvenile who was involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to SDSO, while deputies were on the scene, several additional juvenile riders operating e-motorcycles fled the scene, reportedly riding over center medians and into oncoming traffic.
Deputies did not pursue the riders, as they were responding to the initial crash.
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
