Only seven months after their last update, Luxeed has already released new versions of its R7 and S7 models. These vehicles are part of a partnership between tech giant Huawei and carmaker Chery. By refreshing these cars so quickly, the company shows it wants to stay ahead of the competition in the world’s busiest EV market.
The new Luxeed S7 sedan now starts from RMB 239,800, which is about $34,800. If you prefer SUVs, the Luxeed R7 starts from RMB 259,800, or roughly $37,700. Both cars are RMB 10,000 more expensive than the older versions. Price hikes aren’t usually a reason to celebrate, but the extra money goes toward some very advanced hardware that helps the car “see” the road much better than before.
Refreshed Luxeed S7 gets a new purple color
Every version of the updated EVs now comes with a new LiDAR sensor with 896 channels – it creates a very detailed map of everything around the car. It works like a high-definition camera but uses lasers to measure distances. This tech is a big deal for safety and for the car’s ability to drive itself in certain situations without the driver doing all the work.
The brain of these electric cars is the Huawei Qiankun ADS 4 system. This is the latest software designed to help with autonomous driving. It is built to make driving easier and safer by handling steering, braking, and speeding up on its own under the right conditions. Huawei wants these cars to feel like high-tech gadgets on wheels, and this new system is the main way they plan to do that.
Luxeed R7 is now available in this bright orange
To make the new EVs look more exciting, the company added two new paint colors: orange and purple. These bright choices are designed to catch the eye of younger drivers who might find traditional car colors a bit boring. It is a simple change, but in a market where many cars look the same, a purple SUV certainly stands out in a parking lot.
The S7 and R7 are getting updates, but a much bigger vehicle is also joining the lineup. The Luxeed V9 is a massive MPV, and it is the first of its kind under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance. This vehicle uses a “smart extended-range” system – it has a battery for electric driving but also a small engine that acts like a generator to keep the car going when the battery runs out of charge.
Luxeed V9 will come to other markets outside of China
The Luxeed V9 can travel over 777 miles on a full charge and a full tank of fuel. That is a lot of distance for a family vehicle. To make sure such a big car is easy to drive, it features rear-wheel steering that allows the back wheels to turn slightly, making the long van much easier to park or turn in tight city corners. It also has a dual-chamber air suspension to make the ride feel very smooth.
People in China will be able to see the Luxeed V9 in showrooms starting in late April. But the brand has even bigger plans for the future. By the second half of 2026, they want to build a version of the V9 with the steering wheel on the right side. This will help them sell the car in other countries with the plan to sell one million electric cars every year by 2030.
