Following the introduction of the ES Electric, the next major U.S.-focused EV from Lexus could be a three-row SUV.
Expected to be introduced as the Lexus TZ with 450e and 550e variants, the future model would challenge locally-built premium models, such as the Lucid Gravity Touring and Volvo EX90. Here’s everything we know about it so far:
Design
The Lexus TZ will likely feature a sleek and futuristic exterior that lends it a more upscale look compared to the locally manufactured TX and the Japan-made LX. We expect it to be an evolution of the Lexus Electrified Concept introduced in December 2021, and our rendering reflects that design direction.

Lexus previewed the design direction of the three-row SUV with the Lexus Electrified Concept back in December 2021. Pictured is our exclusive rendering.
At the front, it would have a covered spindle panel instead of a traditional grille in the nose area, flanked by conventionally designed, sharp headlamps. A compact functional grille at the bottom would take care of the vehicle’s minimal cooling needs.
On the sides, body-colored wheel arches should carry the TZ’s polished appearance. Lexus will likely offer wheels as large as 22 inches, including in conventional designs. We expect electric handles fitted flush into the door surfaces, reducing drag and contributing to the vehicle’s sleek styling.
At the rear, the TZ’s windshield should be raked to a far greater degree than that of the TX and LX, giving it a more dynamic look. A full-width taillight should highlight the vehicle’s wide stance, while the rear bumper is expected to look sharper than the donor model.
Interior
While Lexus designers should retain much of the 2027 Highlander’s dashboard, the material quality is expected to be significantly more premium. We also expect a new three-spoke steering wheel, and a wide center console with a dual wireless charging tray and plenty of storage space.

While the layout is unlikely to differ much from the 2027 Highlander (pictured), Lexus should use higher-grade materials and upgraded touchpoints such as the steering wheel. Image: Toyota
Lexus will likely use a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and dual Bluetooth connectivity in the TZ.
Customers should get a choice of six- and seven-seat versions in the TZ. The second-row seats will likely slide forward and fold at the press of a button to make ingress and egress for the third-row seat occupants easier.
Heating in both first and second-row seats, as well as ventilation for the former, are expected. A three-zone automatic climate control system should further improve comfort. The third-row will be electrically foldable from the cargo area and offer conveniences such as cupholders and USB Type-C ports.
Specifications
Based on a modified version of the TNGA-K platform, the Lexus TZ should measure around 199.0 in. in length, 78.5 in. in width, and 67.5 in. in height. Its wheelbase should be identical to the Highlander EV at 120.1 in.
While we’ll keep an eye on official developments, we’re inclined to think that Lexus would maintain the TZ as an AWD SUV. It should have two motors, with the front unit developing 198 lb.-ft. of torque and the rear unit 125 lb.-ft. of torque. The total power output of this combination could be around 338 hp.
The company may offer customers a choice of 77 kWh and 95.8 kWh battery packs, with the former delivering a range of 270 miles and the latter approximately 320 miles. Even with the smaller battery, the range would be enough to finish an LA-to-Vegas trip on a single charge.
Production

While the U.S. would be the major volume market, the TZ (rendered) could also see demand in China, Australia, the Middle East, and Canada.
Unlike the 2027 Highlander and the Subaru version which are allocated for the plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, Lexus Enthusiast had reported last year (citing Japanese publication Chunichi) that Lexus’s three-row SUV would be manufactured at Toyota Motor Kyushu’s Miyata Plant.
Price & Release Date
The Lexus TZ could retail at around USD 70,000 in the base trim, and we see Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth, South Florida, and greater New York Area as some of its big markets. We expect to hear more about the Lexus three-row EV SUV in the second half of 2026.
