Big Grille, Big Screens, Big Range // All-New Mercedes Electric GLC Review
This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC.
The ALL-NEW Electric GLC 400 4MATIC has 483 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It has a 94-kWh battery with up to 715 km/444 miles of range on the European test cycle. The top speed is 210 km/h and it goes 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
The Electric GLC is built electric first, it’s the first model in a completely new vehicle family. Performance, efficiency, range and charging speed is very good. This EV has One-Box braking which provides a smooth and steady brake feel and the regen braking has four levels. There are ten external cameras, five radar sensors and twelve ultrasonic sensors for driver assistance. The GLC has extensive sound installation, air suspension for ride comfort, 4.5-degree rear-axle steering, terrain mode for dirt or gravel roads.
This Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC has a multi-source heat pump which uses waste heat from the electric drive unit, the battery and ambient air to efficiently heat the interior.
The Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC has a dynamic design with broad shoulder lines, it is the first Mercedes-Benz with the redesigned wide chromed grille with a smoked glass look mesh structure and integrated contour lighting. The GLC electric features the next generation of digital light with micro-LED technology. This allows more brightness for high beam and road projections. The wheels are available up to 21”.
The Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC interior is full of technology offering an available 39.1” MBUX Hyperscreen with sharp graphics, it’s the largest screen in a Mercedes-Benz. There is a standard Superscreen which is broken into 3 screens, a 10.3” digital driver display, a 14” centre screen and an available 14” passenger screen.
The 4th generation Mercedes-Benz operating system uses AI-driven technology from both Microsoft and Google, it allows the vehicle to learn driver preferences and adapt to changing conditions giving you a more intuitive experience. Currently 40 apps can be installed but more to come over time.
Pricing has not been announced and will be available closer to the on-sale date.
The Mercedes-Benz Electric GLC has the 800-volt system and with speeds up to 330 kW, it can recharge a range of 305 km/190 miles in 10 minutes. While at 400-volt stations the battery splits to charge at up to 175 kW. With a DC fast charging, it will go from 10-80% in 22 minutes.
