Electric vehicles are quick, smooth and come with the promise of low maintenance costs. But the two things that most motorists are concerned about are the resale value and range anxiety. We cover the depreciation angle in-depth here, and for those who are worried about running out of juice on every drive, we did some digging and found the five EVs with the longest range currently on sale in the US.

Now, the vehicles that made this list aren’t necessarily the most efficient EVs you can buy, but they certainly go the furthest between charges. Some achieve this by having massive battery packs, others by focusing on fuel-efficient design. To put things into perspective we also included the maximum battery pack sizes as well as kWh/100-mile figures (lower is better for this metric). The max claimed ranges can vary significantly based on driving style, temperature, and terrain.

All vehicle data was sourced from the respective manufacturers, so these figures may differ from EPA estimates. Pricing figures exclude destination charges and taxes.

Base MSRP: $114,900 (Grand Touring trim)

Max Claimed Range: 512 miles

Total Battery Pack Size: 118 kWh

Efficiency: 24 kWh/100 miles

Lucid Motors as an EV manufacturer has only been around since 2016, yet it has managed to develop some of the world’s most efficient and impressive electric vehicles. The Lucid Air Grand Touring remains the benchmark in terms of maximum claimed range, and it’s not just due to its battery pack size either.

Its class-leading range is a result of a highly aerodynamic shape (0.197 Cd) and an incredibly power-dense drive unit that minimizes energy loss through heat. Make sure to spec your Grand Touring trim with 19-inch wheels as larger diameter options cut down on that max figure.

Base MSRP: $77,000+ (Estimated for Max Range configuration)

Max Claimed Range: 493 miles

Total Battery Pack Size: 215 kWh

Efficiency: 42 kWh/100 miles

The Silverado EV achieves its massive range through good old brute force. You will need to spec the Work Truck (4WT) or LT trim with the Max Range battery to achieve that 493 mile figure, though. With an efficiency of just 42 kWh/100 miles, it’s a good thing it uses a massive 24-module Ultium battery pack that is nearly double the size of a standard sedan’s. As a comparison, the Fiat 500e comes with a 42kWh battery pack, but it manages 149 miles on a full charge, making it way more efficient.

Base MSRP: $94,900+ (Grand Touring trim)

Max Claimed Range: 450 miles

Total Battery Pack Size: 123 kWh

Efficiency: 28 kWh/100 miles

The Gravity Grand Touring is the longest-range electric SUV currently on sale. To achieve that 450 mile range, you’ll need the Grand Touring spec. It uses a slightly evolved version of the Air’s battery technology, packaged specifically to maintain a flat floor for seven passengers while still providing enough energy to move a significantly heavier vehicle than the Air. The slightly larger battery pack partially compensates for the slightly lower efficiency.

Base MSRP: $86,990 (Dual-Motor with Max Pack)

Max Claimed Range: 420 miles

Total Battery Pack Size: 149 kWh est.

Efficiency: 35 kWh/100 miles

While it was established in 2009 to design sporty concept vehicles, Rivian shifted its focus to electric trucks and EVs’s in 2011 and has never looked back. Its updated Gen 2 platform features a redesigned battery enclosure, and the R1T Dual-Motor AWD trim paired with the Max Pack is the best spec for long-range enthusiasts.

The Max Pack uses a unique high-nickel cell chemistry that offers higher energy density than their other battery packs, allowing for 420 miles of range without significantly increasing the weight of the vehicle.

Max Claimed Range: 410 miles

Total Battery Pack Size: 100 kWh

Efficiency: 26 kWh/100 miles

The Model S may look much like it did when it arrived in 2012, but it has been constantly updated and optimized over the years. It has the smallest battery pack in this group, but its efficiency rating is second only to the Lucid Air, which means it can still get 410 miles of range out of it.

The All-Wheel Drive (non-Plaid) is the spec to get, on the 19-inch wheels. If you tick the ‘21” Velarium Wheels’ option, the overall range will dip by 30 miles. Despite its popularity, Tesla announced that it is one of the models it will be discontinuing this year. That may mean some great lease deals are just around the corner, though.
