For those following along:
Part 1: Bought $1000 C300 with slipping 722.9 transmission
Part 2: $400 fluid service. Still slips.
Part 3 (yesterday): $20 Lucas Oil Transmission Fix. Still slips.
The highlight reel from this attempt:
– Car was completely dead after sitting a month. Jumped it with my GTI's battery.
– Lost the Mercedes-specific fill adapter. Had to dig around to find that..
– Lucas Oil is extremely thick. Pumping it in by hand took 30 minutes for 1.5 liters.
– Test drive confirmed: zero improvement. Transmission slips immediately.
– Took it to a 3AM car wash (so early because its unregistered, it was really dusty). Apparently police wash their cars at 3am as well. He didnt mess with me :p
Verdict: needs a full transmission swap or I attempt to rebuild. The additive was always a long shot but I had to try.
Running total:
– Car: $1,000
– Fluid service: $400
– Lucas Oil (2 bottles): $20
– Next step: Need a way to lift the car enough to pull a transmission….
