French manufacturer Electric Motion is offering an early glimpse of its next step in electric off-road development. With the unveiling of the EP01 enduro prototype, the company signals its intention to move deeper into the competitive enduro segment while building on more than fifteen years of experience in electric trials motorcycles.

Founded in 2009, Electric Motion became the first brand to develop a 100% electric trials motorcycle. The choice of trials was deliberate. As one of the most technical and demanding disciplines in motorcycling, it provided an ideal environment to test and refine emerging electric powertrain technology. Competition conditions pushed the limits of torque delivery, traction management, endurance and precision, core elements that would shape the company’s future development.

Today, Electric Motion’s production machines are firmly established in top-level competition. Equipped with a mechanical clutch and a four-speed gearbox, the brand’s models compete in the FIM Trial2 World Championship. Riders can fine-tune performance through the EM Connect app, allowing extensive configuration of riding parameters to suit different terrains and skill levels.

Over successive generations, the company has steadily refined its proprietary technologies, improving weight, range, power delivery and electronic control systems. This expertise was further expanded through the development of the Escape range and the brand’s participation in the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup, the first international championship dedicated to electric enduro racing.

Electric Motion’s ambitions gained further momentum at the end of 2025 when Yamaha Motor Company presented the YE-01 Racing Concept at EICMA. The concept was co-developed with Electric Motion and served as a platform to explore new technical architectures while expanding the French company’s reach into new markets.

A few months later, in February 2026, Electric Motion revealed the EP01 enduro prototype at the Salon du 2 Roues de Lyon. According to the manufacturer, the project follows a fundamental principle that has guided the brand since its inception: before being electric, an Electric Motion machine must first and foremost feel like a motorcycle.

That philosophy translates into a strong focus on rider engagement, chassis dynamics and suspension performance. Engineers have prioritised balance and handling characteristics to deliver the sensations expected from a true enduro machine rather than simply showcasing electric technology.

For Electric Motion, enduro is not an experimental detour but a natural progression. While trials demands ultra-precise torque control at very low speeds, enduro requires a different balance, greater endurance, smooth power delivery and intelligent energy management. The company believes its years of trials development place it in a unique position to help redefine expectations in the electric enduro segment.

With the EP01 project, Electric Motion aims to offer a new off-road riding experience that combines environmental responsibility with uncompromised performance and riding pleasure.

The company has also opened a dedicated platform where enthusiasts and potential customers can register to follow future updates and development news about the project.
