It is a truth universally acknowledged that cramming two average-size adult humans into a ride-on toy Lamborghini Aventador will never not be funny.
I’m telling you this right up front, because if you need a good laugh today, I’m bound and determined that you’re going to get it. You won’t even need to go super far into this video to achieve this particular bit of mirth, either, because that’s just the ‘Before’ test ride, where they’re seeing what this little Power Wheels-esque contraption can do right out of the box.
The boys at Grind Hard Plumbing Co. bought it with every intention of modifying it, of course. However, much like it’s usually a good idea to taste your food before you add any additional seasoning to it, it’s usually a good idea to see what a vehicle’s strengths and weaknesses are before you start cutting into and wrenching on it.
Even if it’s brand new, like this one is, you don’t want to start working on it and then find out some key part of it is broken, right? After all, breaking it is something you have to work up to; it’s no fun if it’s already broken, right out of the box.
Anyway, the idea seems to revolve around putting a 28,000W EV motorbike motor (complete with chain drive) into this little teeny, tiny, pink plastic Aventador. Strangely, it’s a better candidate for this kind of thing than you might thing. Although a lot of it is plastic, it does have a steel frame underneath, and the metal wheels and brakes also aren’t awful (well, comparatively speaking).
Wheel hub modification, finding a good place to stick the motor controller (complete with a nice, thick metal plate to keep it somewhat protected from potential damage, and of course getting the drive chain to work the way they need it to are some of the key parts of the process. I know videos like this tend to compress the hours of work that go into projects like these, but it still seems to come together relatively quickly and without too much drama. That’s because the drama is all to be had out in the yard, pounding this little Lambo across the dirt and plowing it directly into a big rock.
It does some nice, dirty donuts really well, though! And while the plastic bodywork does of course shatter quite a bit upon impact, it takes the crash better than you might expect. Heck, it’s even still drivable afterward! Which, honestly, is kind of amazing. They then proceed to drive it until the wheels literally fall off (well, one wheel, anyway). If you can’t do stupid, insane stuff with your friends, are they even really any friends worth having?
