LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 63-year-old e-bike rider has died after a crash near downtown Las Vegas Thursday afternoon, police say.

Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened just before 2 p.m. at 15th Street and East Bridger Avenue, near Maryland Parkway and Fremont Street. Police said it involved an SUV and the rider.

Police said the driver of a 2018 Kia Sorento drove south on 15th Street, approaching Bridger. At the same moment, the bicyclist rode east on Bridger, approaching 15th.

Police said a crash happened when the rider did not stop at a stop sign and rode into the intersection. The front-right of the Kia hit the front of the e-bike. The rider fell onto the roadway, police said.

Medical arrived and said the rider died at the scene. The Sorento’s driver and passenger stayed at the scene and did not claim any injuries. Police did not immediately confirm if impairment or speed is involved.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.
