The Type-6 DC chargers Bolt.Earth is setting up under this initiative can charge EVs at up to 3 kW. Ultraviolette sells two electric motorcycles, namely the X-47 and F77, and both can take full advantage of these chargers.
The X-47 and F77 are compatible with Ultraviolette’s 6 kW ‘Supernova’ and 12 kW ‘Supernova Plus’ DC chargers as well, which the company is setting up along highways for intercity use. Later this year, Bolt.Earth will deploy a ‘Blaze’ series of 6 and 12 kW DC chargers across urban and high-density routes, extending similar charging capability to urban environments.
Bolt.Earth has already deployed several chargers in key locations selected by Ultraviolette across the national capital, Delhi, and the states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The company plans to create a network of 50 charging stations by May. Within 24 months, it aims to deploy 2,000 chargers to build India’s largest public fast-charging network for two-wheelers.
Type-6 is India’s standardised DC charging format for light electric vehicles, defined under the Bureau of Indian Standards’ IS 17017 (Part 2/Section 6). Internationally standardised as IEC 62196-6, Type-6 chargers support mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, and rickshaws as well as tricycles, delivery vehicles, freight vehicles, and all-terrain vehicles. They are interoperable, meaning their access is not restricted to EVs of a specific brand.
“Our collaboration with Bolt.Earth is an important step in advancing Type-6 Fast Charging infrastructure in India – an interoperable, scalable standard built specifically for the needs of 2W and 3W EVs,” said Ultraviolette Co-founder and CTO Niraj Rajmohan.
According to a report from Autocar Professional, 2.27 million EVs were sold in India in 2025, and two- and three-wheelers together accounted for 91 per cent of that volume.
Founded in 2016, Ultraviolette commenced sales of its first model, the F77, in 2023, followed by the X47 in 2025. The company also exports the F77 to twelve European markets, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
Bolt.Earth entered India’s EV charging space in 2018 and has deployed more than 100,000 chargers across 1,900 locations to date. The company offers charging solutions for four-wheelers as well.
