The number of electric vehicles (EVs) registered in Arkansas continued to rise through the second half of 2025. However, the growth rate has moderated, according to data from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

As of Jan. 1, the state had 11,482 fully electric vehicles, up 24.6% from 9,214 at the same time in the previous year and up 22.8% from 9,345 on June 30, 2025. By comparison, the number increased by 35.5% from June 2024 to June 2025.

“The rate at which these registrations increase is tied closely to gas prices,” state agency spokesman Scott Hardin said. “When gas prices are high, we see large truck and SUV registrations decrease while EVs increase. However, it is worth noting EVs are less than 1% of total registrations. The most popular vehicles in Arkansas based on registrations are the Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra and Ford F-150, all trucks.”

Benton County has the most EVs in the state, with 3,221, followed by Pulaski County with 2,040 and Washington County with 1,487. The three counties account for 58.7% of the state’s EVs.

Hardin said in addition to the number of fully electric vehicles, the state has 52,000 hybrid electric vehicles, up 5.7% from 49,173 at the same time last year and up by 1.96% from 51,000 in June 2025.

The top counties with hybrids include Pulaski County (11,303), Benton County (9,621) and Washington County (6,377). In total, Arkansas has 2.85 million passenger vehicles registered, including EVs.
