Vauxhall is giving drivers a helping hand to go electric with industry-unique pricing offers for its revamped Astra and Astra Sports Tourer.

The eighth-generation family car has been revised for 2026 with latest design features, a revised interior and new, longer-range electric versions. The new Astra also offers the latest driving technologies and safety features across three trim levels – Griffin, GS and top-of-the-range Ultimate.

Vauxhall is also offering price parity between electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, while also offering Sports Tourer models at the same price as hatchback versions.

On sale from June, the line-up will see all fully electric, plug-in hybrid and 48V hybrid Astra and Astra Sports Tourer models start from £29,995 for Griffin trim, marking a saving of over £5,000 on electric and plug-in hybrid versions compared to the outgoing model. The offer replicates the Vauxhall Frontera and Frontera Electric family SUVs, which set new ground with their price parity approach.

In addition, drivers will pay the same price for hatchback and Sports Tourer models – unique in the market – meaning drivers can enjoy the Sports Tourer’s extra space and practicality without paying any premium. Hatchback models offer up to 1,339 litres of luggage with the seats folded down, depending on the version. The Astra Sports Tourer offers a load volume of up to 1,634 litres.

Already showcased at the Brussels Motor Show, the new-look Astra and Astra Sports Tourer feature refreshed design inspired by the 2023 Vauxhall Experimental concept and the 2025 Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept car. Key new features include the enhanced Vauxhall Vizor face, plus an illuminated Griffin logo and new adaptive glare-free Intelli-Lux HD headlights, which arrives in high-spec HD form on Astra and Astra Sports Tourer for the first time.

The interior also gets an upgrade and debuts a new scratch-resistant satin grey finish across hard surfaces, physical buttons for key functions such as radio, climate control and drive modes, and an improved seven-colour ambient lighting system. To get more bums on seats, Vauxhall has also elevated seating comfort and the brand’s Intelli-Seats now come as standard on every version, to help ensure driving comfort even on long drives.

The Astra cockpit and user interfaces of the infotainment system have also been made even clearer and more intuitive, with all models featuring a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and satellite navigation.

The launch line-up spans a broad range of powertrains from fully electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid.

The Astra Electric features a larger 58.3kWh battery to offer up to 281 miles of range for the hatchback, or 276 miles for the Sports Tourer (WLTP provisional) – that’s a 22-mile increase from the previous model. The battery also gets energy-saving technology such as preconditioning to increase range and driving efficiency.

It’s married up to a 156hp electric motor, enabling the Astra Electric to accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds, with the Sports Tourer taking 9.5 seconds; both models have a top speed of 106mph and produce 270Nm of torque.

The Astra Electric supports 100kW DC rapid charging, enabling a 20-80% recharge in 32 minutes. An 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, enabling a 20-80% charge from an 11kW AC charger in three hours 20 minutes, or five hours via a 7.4kW charger.

The new Astra Electric also now offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for the first time as standard, offering the ability to charge external devices such as e-bikes without having to rely on other power sources when on the go.

Further powertrain options come in the form of plug-in hybrid and 48V hybrid versions.

Plug-in hybrid models pair a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 17.2kWh battery for 196hp of power and 360Nm of torque, enabling 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds (7.7 seconds for Sports Tourer) and a 140mph top speed. Driving on electric power alone, the Astra Plug-in Hybrid offers a range of up to 52 miles (WLTP combined).

48V hybrid models feature a 136hp petrol engine that works in combination with an electrified six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 21hp electric motor for a total system output of 145hp, giving 0-62mph in 9.0 seconds, while top speed is 130mph.

The electric motor supports the petrol engine when accelerating as well as when starting from a standstill. At low speeds, the electric motor also enables all-electric driving for short distances or up to 50% of the time in the city.

Three grades – Griffin, GS and Ultimate – are available.

Entry-level Griffin versions are priced at £29,995 across all electrified versions and hatchback/Sports Tourer models. These come with the illuminated Vizor and signature compass lighting, tinted rear windows and 17-inch alloy wheels, plus roof rails on Sports Tourer versions. The cabin comes with the Intelli-Seat feature, and front seats are heated, as is the vegan leather steering wheel. Onboard tech includes a 10-inch Pure Panel infotainment display centrally integrated into the dashboard, with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto in addition to satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control, and an electro-chromatic frameless rear-view mirror.

The sporty GS grade is available from £31,495 and adds in 18-inch black alloy wheels, a sportier bumper and black roof. Astra GS features fabric sports seats with an AGR-certified driver’s seat. The Pure Panel ‘Pro’ infotainment system incorporates the 10-inch touchscreen and 10-inch digital instrument cluster in a single edge-to-edge glass display, as well as displaying the 180-degree parking camera system. Other kit includes keyless entry and start, electric and heated door mirrors, and dual-zone climate control.

Top-rung Ultimate versions are priced at £33,995. They’re equipped with Intelli-Lux HD headlights as standard, as well as ergonomic ReNewKnit seats with heating and massage function for the driver and front passenger. The front passenger seat is also AGR-certified. Extra tech includes Intelli-Hud head-up display, wireless smartphone charger, plus upgraded safety features such as lane positioning assist, blind spot alert, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. Astra Sports Tourer models also receive a power tailgate.

The new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer start UK deliveries from July for the fully electric, 48V hybrid and PHEV models. Petrol versions arrive later this year.
