The new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P has officially landed in the UK as a top-of-the-line PHEV SUV that offers class-leading electric range paired with competitive pricing.
On sale now, the Chinese brand’s new flagship brings three-row functionality to the Jaecoo line-up for the first time while offering “executive-grade” luxury.
Positioned above the existing Jaecoo 5, electric E5 and 7 SUVs, it’s based on the same underpinnings as the Chery Tiggo 9 and Omoda 9 sibling models under parent company Chery International.
The Jaecoo 8 SHS-P (which stands for Super Hybrid System – Plug-in) SUV is available in both six- and seven-seat configurations, positioned as “two distinct personalities” to meet the needs of buyers ranging from larger families to professional drivers.
The seven-seat Jaecoo 8 SHS-P Luxury is priced from £45,500 and “designed for larger families who require flexibility and space without compromise”.
The six-seat Jaecoo 8 SHS-P Executive starts from £47,500, marking a £2,500 premium over the standard model. It’s targeted at those “who prioritise passenger comfort and a more premium rear-seat experience”, including executive travel and chauffeured transport. The interior comes with four heated, ventilated and massaging captain’s chairs – with extendable thigh support for the driver for increased personal space – and two foldable seats in the boot compartment to cater for occasional extra passengers.
Both models include multiple Isofix points, massage front seats and up to 2,021 litres of boot space.
As with its Chery Tiggo 9 and Omoda 9 cousins, the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P is powered by Chery International’s AWD SHS-P system comprising a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and twin motors with a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Combined output is 428hp and 580Nm, with a 0-62mph time of 5.8 seconds.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain also offers a combined driving range of over 700 miles, plus an electric-only range of up to 83 miles. Meanwhile, DC fast-charging capability of up to 40kW allows a 30%-80% charge in some 20 minutes and the large SUV comes with 6.6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, suitable for powering everything from laptops to camping equipment.
For the first time on a Jaecoo model, the 8 features lockable differentials alongside the adaptive all-terrain response system, giving enhanced capability across a wide range of driving conditions. It also delivers a maximum wading depth of up to 600mm and continuous damping control (CDC) adaptive suspension.
The base seven-seat Luxury model comes with dual 12.3-inch displays, a Sony 14-speaker sound system, massage front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus cooled wireless charging pads as standard.
The top-of-the-line six-seater Executive adds in Nappa leather seating and the four heated, ventilated massage captain’s chairs, and also introduces a zero-gravity front passenger seat with a 123-degree adjustable angle, extended legroom and a dedicated ‘Boss Button’” for passenger side control.
The Jaecoo 8 also features the brand’s seven-year/100,00-mile warranty as standard, including an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery
Order books for the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P are open now, with deliveries expected from May 2026.
