Good news for Jeep Wrangler customers: the company has made changes to the frame rails on the 2026 model, significantly reducing the risk of rollover that affects the iconic off-road SUV, which has removable doors and roof.

If you recall, the Wrangler made headlines by rolling over during frontal crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the U.S.—twice in 2020 and again in 2022—earning it a “marginal” protection rating.

However, in the latest driver-side small overlap crash test, the 2026 Wrangler (four doors) managed to remain upright following the collision, as shown in the video below.

The organization specifies that Wranglers built after October 2025 benefit from the modified frame rails and therefore receive an “acceptable” rating. The same applies to Jeep Gladiator pickups manufactured after October 2025.

On the other hand, while these vehicles provide solid protection overall according to the IIHS, they still showed a high risk of injury to the front passenger’s right foot and leg in the passenger-side test.

Neither the Wrangler nor the Gladiator qualify for an IIHS Top Safety Pick award.
