Considering the over-the-top luxury of the body style, you may think a hybrid convertible is somewhat paradoxical. However, what most people tend to forget is that hybridization is not always about improving fuel economy — the addition of a few electric components onto an already eminently capable powertrain can significantly improve its performance over its standard full gasoline counterparts. This is a pretty unique application, though, and the list of hybrid convertible cars is a very short one. Such a niche market is very appealing to some buyers, and if you’re one of them, you’ll want to peruse our rankings of the best hybrid convertibles currently on sale for 2026.
Vehicles are assigned a BuzzScore in relation to their direct segment competitors, and as such, vehicles in this list, while similarly scored, do not necessarily compete directly against one another. Find out more about how the BuzzScore ratings work here. These lists are continuously updated with the latest BuzzScores and vehicles as they become available.
This list excludes those that use mild-hybrid assistance and focuses on convertible models that utilize true hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Topping our list of one of the best hybrid convertibles for 2026 is the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible, among the most expensive hybrid cabrios featured here and the highest rated one, with a Buzzscore of 8.6 out of 10. We praised the potency of the plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain in a previous review of its hardtop coupe counterpart (both the plug-in hybrid coupe and convertible use the same setup), along with its sharp driving dynamics that make this luxury grand tourer spritely and responsive, despite its massive size.
“Bentley didn’t bother launching a base model and working its way up; it started with the range-topping Continental GT Speed. The outgoing model used a twin-turbo W12, which has now been replaced by a twin-turbo V8 with a PHEV system. Total output is now 771 hp and 738 lb-ft – increases of 145 and 74, respectively. Drive goes out to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.” – Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-at-Large, CarBuzz

The latest iteration of Chevrolet’s famed sports car, the Corvette Stingray, also makes the list of the best hybrid convertibles currently on sale — specifically, its hybrid variant known as the Corvette E-Ray. Featured onboard the entry-level Corvette hybrid convertible that is priced at just under $120,000, the 1LZ Convertible, is a 6.2L V8 engine paired with a front-mounted electric motor that combines to produce 655 horsepower altogether. All-wheel drive is also standard on all convertible variants of the Corvette E-Ray, bringing additional traction to help put all the extra power down on the road surface and a sharp contrast from the Corvette’s traditional rear-wheel drive setup.

McLaren also offers a plug-in hybrid convertible within their current product lineup for 2026, with its two-door, midengined sports convertible known as the McLaren Artura Spider. Just like its coupe counterpart, the Artura Spider features a mid-mounted 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 sending power to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. We highlighted during our first drive impressions how, in Spider form, McLaren has increased the power output to 690 hp (versus 671 hp for the hardtop coupe Artura), meaning buyers receive not only the benefit of open-top motoring by opting for an Artura Spider, but slightly better performance where it matters the most.
“Every modern McLaren road model has used a twin-turbocharged V8, but the Artura debuts a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 mated to a plug-in hybrid system. The Artura Coupe produced 671 horsepower, but McLaren increased output in the Spider to 690 hp and will give this upgrade to existing Coupe owners. It may not be the most fire-spitting car McLaren has ever produced, but the performance is nothing short of impressive.
It may not be McLaren’s quickest model, but there is no universe where you can call the Artura “sluggish.” The sprint to 60 mph is dispatched in just three seconds (according to McLaren), and our real-world testing was able to get remarkably close at 3.06 seconds.” – Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-at-Large, CarBuzz

Best Hybrid Sports Cars Of 2026
The days of slow and uninspiring hybrids are long gone.
Characteristics Of Hybrid Convertibles
While electric vehicles may be the latest craze, hybrids are still a reliable way of owning a green car. At least, that is usually the case. When it comes to convertible hybrid vehicles, the emphasis is less on economy and more on boosting performance. There are also shared qualities among the very few hybrid cabrios currently on the market:
Style: Looks are extremely important in a convertible, and hybrids market themselves as being particularly modern. Most are sleek hardtops, with the occasional soft-top thrown in. Two doors and two seats are the norm, though getting in can be a little tricky since these cars ride particularly low. Luxury is a given, with only the best quality materials used both inside and out.
Powertrain: The standard engine in these cars is supported by an electric motor and battery pack, giving them access to a lot of extra power when needed. This is usually reserved for launching off the line, which makes hybrid convertibles extremely quick to the 60 mph mark.
Practicality: Since some only seat two occupants, there isn’t a lot of interior room, while those that seat four are particularly cramped in the back. As for cargo space, there isn’t much, especially with the roof lowered. These are not practical daily drivers but rather leisure sports cars that you drive for fun.
Price: Finding a cheap convertible vehicle is a challenge, and if you’re shopping in this segment, nothing comes affordably. These are expensive cars, and when you consider that the hybrid powertrains are designed to boost performance rather than fuel efficiency, the cost of ownership is also extremely steep.

What To Consider When Buying A Hybrid Convertible
A hybrid convertible car has a very specific list of strengths and weaknesses, and while they may not be for everyone, they certainly have some strong appeal for niche consumers.
Pros
Modern and attractive styling
Electric assistance boosts power, especially at launch
More fun to drive than a typical convertible
‘Green’ status alleviates some of the guilt of owning a six-figure car
Cons
Hybridization does almost nothing to improve gas mileage
Some of the most expensive cars money can buy
Between the electric components and the extra strengthening for the convertible, these are heavy cars
