French manufacturer DAB Motors presented its new DAB 1 electric motorcycle at the Lyon Motor Show, positioning the model in the sub-€10,000 segment. With a starting price of €9,990, the company aims to deliver a design-focused electric motorcycle that remains accessible to riders with a 125 cc equivalent licence (L3e-A1 homologation).

The DAB 1 follows the earlier DAB 1α, a limited-series model introduced two years ago. According to the manufacturer, the new version focuses on refinement rather than simplification, maintaining the brand’s design-driven philosophy while improving industrial execution.
The model is now available to order via the official DAB Motors website. Leasing options start from €199 per month without down payment, and the company offers free home delivery to the first 50 European customers.
Design remains central
Design continues to play a key role in the development process at DAB Motors. The DAB 1 keeps the monolithic architecture introduced with the 1α, giving the motorcycle a compact and sculptural silhouette.

Compared with the earlier limited edition, several visual elements have been simplified. Materials such as Alcantara and exposed carbon have been removed in favour of a more restrained and cohesive design language. The result is a motorcycle that focuses on precision, coherence and functional integration rather than decorative elements.
Industrial production with Peugeot Motocycles
Since becoming part of Peugeot Motocycles, DAB Motors has also strengthened its production and engineering processes. The integration allows improved assembly quality and more consistent manufacturing standards.

The DAB 1 is equipped with Kayaba suspension, a redesigned seat and an adjustable seat height between 800 and 880 mm, aiming to provide comfort for a broader range of riders.
Performance and specifications
The electric motorcycle delivers performance figures typical of the 125 cc equivalent segment:
Peak power: 31 hp
Top speed: 120 km/h
Torque at the wheel: 395 Nm
Weight: 145 kg
Urban range: up to 150 km
These specifications position the DAB 1 as a lightweight electric motorcycle designed primarily for urban and peri-urban riding.

Small-batch production
DAB Motors continues to manufacture its motorcycles in small batches, a strategy the company describes as “Meaning over Mass.” This approach allows continuous product evolution and greater attention to detail compared with large-scale motorcycle production.
A highly configurable electric motorcycle
One of the distinctive elements of the DAB 1 is its extensive customization capability. Through a new online configurator, customers can choose from numerous combinations of colours, finishes, seat options and equipment.
This bespoke approach has also brought the brand attention outside the traditional motorcycle world. DAB Motors has collaborated with Burberry and its motorcycles have been used by several international artists and athletes, including J Balvin, Marcus Rashford, Rosalía and FKA Twigs.

Award-winning design
DAB’s design approach has previously been recognised with several international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, the Janus de l’Industrie and the European Design Awards.
With the launch of the DAB 1, the French manufacturer aims to combine design, technology and small-scale production in a more accessible electric motorcycle offering, while maintaining the distinctive identity that has characterised the brand since its first model.
Note of THE PACK – Guy Salens:
With the DAB 1, DAB Motors proves that electric motorcycles do not need to compromise between design, performance and accessibility. Entering the market below the €10,000 threshold is a significant step, especially in the 125cc-equivalent segment where many new riders will discover electric mobility for the first time. It is also interesting to see how the integration with Peugeot Motocycles helps the brand scale its production while maintaining its distinctive design identity. If more manufacturers manage to combine strong design, urban performance and realistic pricing, the transition to electric two-wheel mobility in Europe could accelerate much faster than many expect.
