The Noosa e-Bike Library is giving local residents the opportunity to try out an e-bike for free if they hold a Bicycle Network membership.
The library, an initiative of Zero Emissions Noosa, has a fleet of five electric bikes available for loan.
The goal is to give people the opportunity to try out an e-bike before committing to buying one themselves.
As well as the bikes themselves, community members can borrow helmets, panniers, child seats, lights and locks.
Loans are free, but borrowers must hold membership with a recognised cycling organisation that includes personal accident, public liability and income protection insurance.
Eligible organisations include Bicycle Network, Bicycle Queensland and AusCycling. Minimum membership coverage periods apply.
Noosa e-Bike Library Coordinator, Jenny Clement, said: “Most of our customers have ridden pushbikes in the past but have never tried out an e-bike.
“We’re getting them back on bikes in a safe way.
“We’re getting people to try something new and we want to educate people about legal e-bikes.
“We know that once people try an e-bike, they quickly see how practical they are.
“It’s about building confidence and showing that active transport is a realistic option for everyday life in Noosa.”
