Whether full self-driving is actually ready is something that is vigorously debated, particularly considering the areas where tests have been conducted over the past few years.
But regardless, full self-driving is now very close to also being implemented on European roads. Some car manufacturers have already gotten partial license to let users use self-driving on freeways, for instance. But Tesla is very close to getting necessary permits to enable full self-driving in Europe.
According to Elon Musk, the so-called FSD mode is set to get regulartory approval in Holland on March 20th, which then will pave the way for approvals across much of Europe shortly after.
“Tesla has the most advanced real-world AI, and hopefully, it will be approved soon in Europe. We’re told by the authorities that March 20th, it’ll be approved in the Netherlands,’ what I was told. Hopefully, that date remains the same. But I think people in Europe are going to be pretty blown away by how good the Tesla car AI is in being able to drive.”
Other key dates for the rollout are currently unknown, but it’s expected to be quick after initial approval.
