Škoda has introduced a new plug-in hybrid powertrain for the Superb, delivering 272 horsepower. Previously, the model offered a 204-hp system, making the Superb the most powerful petrol-powered Škoda in the lineup.The new version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds, which is one second quicker than the old variant. Top speed is 225 km/h, an increase of 5 km/h. The permissible towing weight for a trailer has been raised from 1,800 to 2,000 kg.This powertrain is already used in the related Volkswagen Passat, which shares its platform with the Superb. The electric range has not been specified yet, but it is expected to be close to the 136 km WLTP cycle figure claimed for the 204-hp version. Charging is possible at up to 50 kW.For now, the new modification is only available for the Superb liftback in Laurin & Klement and Sportline trims. In some markets, deliveries have been confirmed specifically for this body version.
