PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Toyota is showcasing its growing range of electrified vehicles, emphasizing new hybrid and electric options as the automaker continues to expand its footprint in the U.S. market.

The company now offers 32 electrified models nationwide, which together account for nearly half of Toyota’s U.S. sales.

Many of its top sellers – including the Corolla and Tacoma – are available as hybrids, and the Camry has shifted to an allhybrid lineup.

Toyota also continues to broaden its plugin hybrid and fully electric offerings.

Consumer Reporter Nydia Han took one of the company’s newest 2026 models, the Toyota bZ, short for “Beyond Zero Emissions” for a recent test drive with a Toyota representative,

“Here we go, Bridget,” Han said as the drive began.

Asked what’s new for 2026, Bridget Fitzgerald, a Toyota spokesperson highlighted performance and technology upgrades.

“It has more technology. It has power, 338 horsepower,” she said. “It goes 0 to 60 in under 60 seconds.”

Fitzgerald noted the vehicle offers “up to 314 miles of all electric range.”

Toyota plans to add another model to the bZ line this spring: the bZ Woodland.

According to the company, it will feature 375 horsepower and a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds, aimed at customers with active lifestyles.

“There’s really something for everyone?” asked Han. “Yes, that’s the goal for Toyota,” Fitzgerald said.

She also pointed to the CHR, described as “a smaller version of these electric vehicles” and “a compact SUV” with up to 290 miles of range.

Fitzgerald also highlighted updates to another key model.

“One of our special ones is the RAV4 that got our redesign for this year,” she said.

She added that for 2026, the RAV4 will be offered “as a hybrid only or as a plugin hybrid,” calling it “new technology.”

Fitzgerald said the plugin hybrid version aims to ease concerns about driving distance.

“So you get 50 miles in electric only range. You don’t have to pay for gas. You just plug it in at the end of the night. And then if you want to do a longer trip, it can go 600 miles if you put fuel in it,” she said.

Toyota says its strategy is to offer a wide range of electrified options as consumer demand continues to shift toward loweremission vehicles.

Toyota is also offering a fuel cell vehicle in its lineup.

The 2026 Toyota Mirai.

‘Mirai’ means future in Japanese.

Fuel cell vehicles combine hydrogen with oxygen from the outside air to generate power, without creating any tailpipe emission besides water.

Currently, the Toyota Mirai is only sold in California and Hawaii.
