Stockholm-based shared micromobility operator Voi has unveiled a new family of vehicles set to enter service this month.

Voi’s new line-up comprises a new e-scooter model and two upgraded e-bikes with first deployments in Voi’s home city of Stockholm.

The company told Zag Daily that 3000 e-scooters are rolling out across Stockholm this month but couldn’t disclose which markets will follow. The rollout is planned to gradually expand across select European cities this spring.

Mathias Hermansson, Voi’s Chief Financial Officer and deputy CEO, said that the 2026 fleet is built for a service life of “at least 10 years”.

“Each new vehicle generation improves our overall unit economics at city level,” Hermansson told Zag Daily, adding that the new fleet sees “enhanced durability, smarter systems and improved energy efficiency” to reduce operational intensity and lower cost per ride.

Voi’s new e-scooter

The new e-scooter, branded Voiager 9, will replace earlier generations in Voi’s shared fleet.

Updates include changes to rider-facing components such as curved handlebars and adjustment to other contact points. The e-scooter also features repositioned brake levers, a larger throttle and a newly-designed bell and turn indicator.

Voi reports that the scooter has been designed to reduce idle energy consumption while remaining compatible with its existing charging infrastructure. It also sees a reported 15% increase in its share of recycled materials compared with the previous generation.

Voi’s latest e-bikes

Voi is also introducing two upgraded e-bikes to its fleet – the Explorer 5 and Explorer Light 2.

Both models are said to feature around 40% increased battery capacity compared with earlier versions, aiming to cut battery swapping demand.

The new e-bikes incorporate more than seven times the recycled content of earlier models. The Explorer Light 2 is approximately 15% lighter than the Explorer 5, with the company stating that it will require less raw material in production and less energy to operate.

As with the new e-scooter, Voi has framed the e-bike updates around durability, maintainability and sustainability rather than the addition of new rider features.

“This is our most ambitious technologically advanced vehicle launch to date,” said Voi CEO Fredrik Hjelm. “With this new generation, we are setting a new standard for comfort, battery efficiency and sustainability performance in shared mobility. It represents a major step forward in our mission to build vehicles that people love to ride and that are designed to last in modern cities.”

The tech behind the fleet

All three vehicles are powered by Voi’s in-house developed IoT platform which uses GPS and positioning technology to locate vehicles.

With built-in geofencing, vehicles can automatically adjust behaviour when entering specific zones like slow-speed zones. Safety features include topple and accident detection.

Voi reports that the platform’s low energy consumption will reduce battery strain while in-house firmware development allows the company to adapt vehicles to changing local regulations.

“All these upgrades allow us to operate more efficiently at scale while continuing to improve the rider experience,” Hermansson said.

The new launch follows a year of rapid expansion for Voi. The operator recently reported a 34% rise in net revenue in 2025, marked by entry and growth in major European capitals like Paris and London.
