Police said the bicyclist was taken to the hospital where he died a couple of days later.

ATHENS, Ga. — A driver is facing a DUI charge after a man riding an electric bike was hit and killed in Athens, officers said.

Athens-Clarke County Police said 45-year-old Terrence White is also charged with homicide by vehicle, following too closely and serious injury by vehicle.

Officers said they were called to Olympic Drive near Athena Drive on Feb. 21 around 8:30 p.m. to respond to the scene. Police said the driver of a BMW hit the bicyclist, later identified as Kul Chokhal, in the rear. 

The 37-year-old was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Police said he later died on Feb. 23.

The investigation into the deadly crash is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer
