Mazda has revealed pricing for the all-electric 6e sedan. This is the brand’s first mainstream electric vehicle in Australia. The 6e is Mazda’s second EV in Australia. It was developed with Chinese partner Changan.

The electric sedan is now available for pre-order at Mazda dealers across Australia. First deliveries are expected to start in July 2026.

Two model grades are available. The GT starts at $49,990. The range-topping Atenza is priced at $52,990. This makes the 6e one the the best value electric sedans available and undercuts Mazda’s last sedan model, the 2024 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary, which sold for $54,385.

The first 300 customers who pre-order a GT will receive a complimentary upgrade to the Atenza. This represents an instant saving of $3,000.

Design and Styling

The Mazda 6e features an Authentic Modern design approach. It represents the next evolution of Mazda’s Kodo: Soul of Motion design philosophy.

The sedan has smooth and flowing lines. A long roofline and short-deck coupe silhouette create an athletic look. Despite the sporty appearance, it maintains the functionality of a five-door hatchback.

The 6e sits on a 2,895mm wheelbase. Seven colours are available. Premium paint options include Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic, and Polymetal Grey Metallic. Crystal White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, Jet Black Mica, and Aero Grey Metallic complete the range.

The minimalist five-seat cabin is is heavily influenced by the Japanese concept of ma, which celebrates the beauty of empty space.

Both grades feature a 10.2-inch TFT LCD multi-meter display and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. An augmented-reality active driving display is standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.

Other standard features include tri-zone climate control, 64-color ambient lighting, and a premium Sony Audio system with 14 speakers. Advanced keyless entry and heated and ventilated front seats are also standard.

The Mazda 6e introduces a new smartphone app. Features include a Bluetooth key, which is a first for the brand. Owners can control climate control, door locking and unlocking, and windows from their phone.

The Mazda 6e uses a rear-wheel drive electric motor. It delivers 190kW of power and 290Nm of torque.

Power comes from a 78kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. The WLTP driving range is up to 560km. Combined energy consumption is 15.9kWh per 100km.

The 6e is equipped with a CCS Type-2 charging port. DC fast charging can charge from 30 to 80 percent in as little as 15 minutes.

A comprehensive suite of safety technologies is standard. Smart Brake Support includes pedestrian and cyclist detection. The system also works when turning across traffic.

Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are included. Blind Spot Monitoring comes with Vehicle Exit Warning. Lane support features include Lane Departure Warning, Lane Assist, and Lane Departure Prevention.

A Driver Monitoring system is equipped. It focuses on unobtrusive yet thorough monitoring. A 360-degree monitor with see-through view is also standard.

The GT grade includes 19-inch alloy wheels, the displays and touchscreen mentioned earlier, 360-degree monitor, augmented-reality display, advanced keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, wireless smartphone integration, Blind Spot Monitoring with Vehicle Exit Warning, Bluetooth key, heated and ventilated front seats, 64-color ambient lighting, lane support, Smart Brake Support, and the premium Sony Audio system.

The Atenza adds tan leather and synthetic suede seats with quilted stitching. It also features a two-tone tan and black leather steering wheel. Tan synthetic suede dashboard and door trims complete the premium interior.

An optional warm beige interior trim is available exclusively on the GT for $1,000.

The electric sedan market in Australia is becoming increasingly competitive. Several models now compete in the $45,000 to $70,000 price range.

The Mazda 6e enters a segment with established players like the Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal, and the recently launched Kia EV4. Each offers different combinations of range, performance, and features.

Mazda 6e vs Electric Sedan Competitors

The Mazda 6e GT sits at the same price point as the Kia EV4. However, it offers significantly more range. The 6e delivers 560km compared to the EV4’s 430km.

The base BYD Seal is cheaper at $46,990. But it has less range at 460km. The Mazda undercuts the Tesla Model 3 by around $5,000 while offering competitive range.

The Atenza grade competes directly with the BYD Seal long range model. Both are priced at $52,990. The Mazda offers slightly less range but comes with the backing of an established dealer network.
