Canada’s $5000 EV Rebate Is Back! What You Need To Know

Canada’s federal EV rebate is officially back as of today, February 16, 2026, but it looks a bit different than before. 

The previous iZEV program (which ran out of funding in early 2025) has been replaced by the new Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP). The government has committed $2.3 billion to this new initiative, but they have introduced stricter rules on which cars—and which buyers—qualify.
