The programme has a funding volume of 170 million dinar for 2025, equivalent to approximately 1.5 million euros. As the purchase grant ranges from 250 to 5,000 euros, depending on the vehicle type, it is unclear how many electric vehicles the programme can support.
Battery-electric cars and vans receive a grant of 5,000 euros, while electric motorcycles, three-wheelers, and quadricycles are eligible for 500 euros, and mopeds and light three-wheelers for 250 euros. It remains unclear how many electric vehicles were supported by the funding in the previous year. Estimates suggest the programme could cover between 300 and 6,000 vehicles.
“The Ministry of Environmental Protection will continue to approve subsidies on a first-come, first-served basis. Through this regulation, the state reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of environmentally friendly mobility, with the aim of creating a cleaner environment for all citizens. Should the funds be exhausted before the deadline, the ministry will inform the public in a timely manner. We will do our utmost to continue the subsidy programme as in previous years and to allocate additional funds for this purpose,” said Environment Minister Sara Pavkov.
Environment Minister Sara Pavkov has indicated that the new funding round will be simpler than previous ones. Applications will be processed through a streamlined procedure via the government’s e-governance portal. This aims to make the process more efficient and accessible, further encouraging citizens and businesses to choose environmentally friendly vehicles.
Last year, the programme’s budget was exhausted after around six months: In August, the Serbian government announced that no further applications could be submitted. At the time, Serbia also highlighted its first locally produced electric vehicle—the battery-electric Fiat Grande Panda—and expressed hope that this Serbian-Italian co-production would attract many local buyers thanks to the incentives.
