JSW MG Motor India, as a part of it’s next phase of growth in India, is set to launch four new sports utility vehicles in 2026 including a plug-in hybrid.

The first of the four upcoming launches will be the premium SUV MAJESTOR, expected to reach the market in April-May and compete with established models such as the Toyota’s Fortuner.
Meanwhile, the remaining three launches this calendar year will be new energy vehicles, with one confirmed as a plug-in hybrid.

Moreover, three will be sold through the regular MG channel, while one will be positioned under the premium ‘MG Select’ network.

The carmaker will also ramp up production and location as a part of its five-year roadmap to boost its underwhelming presence in the Indian market.
“As we are preparing for the next phase, we have created a five-year plan. The five-year plan talks about growing volumes to about 3 lakh units,” Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra told PTI.“We are also looking to invest anywhere between Rs 4,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore, which will be towards plant expansion. It will be on products, and it will be on driving localisation. These three would be essentially where our capex will go,” the chief added.

The company’s Halol plant in Gujarat currently has an annual capacity of 1.2 lakh units.

Mehrotra said expanding this to three lakh units would typically take about 18 months. Funding for the expansion will be a mix of internal accruals and external sources, he added.

JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between China’s SAIC and India’s JSW Group, had last year announced a Rs 5,000 crore investment plan to enhance production capacity and roll out one new vehicle every three to six months.

On the broader market outlook, Mehrotra said the passenger vehicle industry is likely to see double-digit growth, supported by GST rationalisation and a low base in the first half of 2025 when growth was muted. He expects a similar trend in electric vehicles, with penetration projected to rise to 7-8% in 2026 from about 4.5% in 2025.
