Chino Hills police reunited a $1,200 electric bicycle with an Ayala High School student this week after it was stolen from the school’s bike rack on Feb. 5.
Two Pomona men – Daniel Valdez, 32, and Jose Valdez, 25 – were booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of grand theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy, according to San Bernardino County jail records.
Both men have been released after posting bail, records show.
Chino Hills deputies were called at 8:52 a.m. after the student reported to the Ayala High School resource officer that his Swift Pro e-bike had been stolen while he was in class, Deputy Frank Lopez said.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects using video surveillance, Deputy Lopez said.
The Valdez’s were arrested six hours later in the 6100 block of Walnut Street in Chino.
Deputies served a search warrant at a home in the 1400 block of Mission Boulevard in Pomona, recovering the electric bicycle, two Segway scooters and a white OHV-brand electric bicycle that were also believed to be stolen, Deputy Lopez said.
The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to identify additional victims, Deputy Lopez said.
