Concept fiat topolino xs is a modular mini electric car
Designer Wini Camacho imagines Topolino XS, an extra-small Fiat electric vehicle that can convert itself into a coupe, a roadster, or a roofless mini car. Equipped with a versatile three-in-one system, the modular concept vehicle allows the driver to remove the roof, windshield, and windows, depending on the driving vibe they’re going for. It’s a setup that the designer wants to bring forth because the Fiat Topolino XS for him is a mini car that embodies the less-is-more philosophy but in an ‘extreme’ minimalistic and simplistic level.
Part of it is not having to switch vehicles for the kind of driving the owner’s looking for. Then, there are the head and tail lights, which are scooped out from the surfaces of the mini car’s body so that it keeps its seamless, unified spherical form. ‘It’s what I call adding value by subtracting parts and complexity,’ the designer shares with designboom. The headlights also resemble a pair of eyes with their black, circular dots surrounded by the white LED beams, giving the concept Fiat Topolino XS a playful face as the mini car roams around cities.

Customizable tail lights with hundreds of tiny LEDs
At the back of the vehicle, the taillights consist of hundreds of tiny LEDs that can be customized to different designs. Inside the concept Fiat Topolino XS, designer Wini Camacho places a stationary central steering wheel hub instead of putting it on a side. In this way, drivers can keep their digital display, horn, and safety features fixed and easy to read and reach while taking the mini car for a ride. Even the central screen remains fixed as the single-spoke steering wheel, stripped from any unnecessary designs too as part of the less-is-more ethos, rotates.
The electric vehicle comes with a small battery pack, which can be recharged at home, and so far, the designer imagined the four-wheeler to be 2.4 meters long and 1.4 meters wide. He has two versions in mind of the concept project: the basic PURO and the high-performance ABARTH, both of which can still be converted into a coupe, roadster, or roofless targa. Smart technology is also integrated into the mini car, which means that Fiat Topolino XS drivers are given remote access using their wearable devices and not just their smartphones. To add fun, as the designer describes it, the graphics use the Italian ‘Tricolore’ theme. The concept project also comes with optional all-weather trolley luggage and a rack for extra cargo space. So far, the Fiat Topolino XS is still a concept mini car.
