It’s hard to believe that Hard Rock outfit Tesla has been around since 1981, but judging by the crowd gathered at the MGM Northfield’s Center Stage venue this past Saturday night, you’d believe that this motley assembly of AARPers grew up and old with the California quintet.

Taking the stage and blowing through a set list of sixteen tunes, the temperature inside that place was a hell of a lot hotter than the frigid loading dock outside (Did you know that they still run the horse races…outdoors…next door at the Northfield race track this time of year?)

Started during the Hair Metal craze of the mid-80s, the band saw its ups and downs, breaking up in the early aughts, and then reuniting for a few new albums and a robust touring schedule. Most of the original lineup is still intact, even if they’ve aged a bit in the last, oh, several decades.

The house was packed and the crowd really enjoyed the respite from the La Nina winter just outside.

New York punk trio Fastest Land Animal, which sprung to life as a side project for members of The Cringe, opened the show with a high-octane set that got the blood pumping and brought the crowd to its collective feet.

Here’s all the action we caught:
