China’s MIIT lists the Great Wall Cannon PHEV, a plug-in hybrid pickup with 2.0L engine, rugged design, and imminent launch. Explore specs and features.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published declaration data for the plug-in hybrid version of the Great Wall Cannon pickup truck. This listing in the latest official catalog signals that the model’s official debut is imminent.
Visually, the hybrid Great Wall Cannon largely mirrors the design of the current pickup. It features a massive polygonal grille that emphasizes the vehicle’s off-road character, along with black matte body cladding that gives it a more rugged, utilitarian look. The styling is clearly aimed at active use away from paved roads.
The plug-in hybrid Cannon has substantial dimensions: the body is 5653 mm long, 1883 mm wide, and 1882 mm high, with a wheelbase reaching 3470 mm. The cargo bed measures 1760 mm in length, 1520 mm in width, and 540 mm in height, confirming the model’s full-fledged cargo orientation.
The certification documents also list available equipment options. These include various lighting configurations, a front camera without a logo, decorative elements for the front bumper, a sunroof, different types of side mirrors, and the possibility of installing an external charging port—a direct indicator of the hybrid architecture.
The powertrain consists of a plug-in hybrid system based on a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The system’s maximum output is 185 kW. It uses a lithium iron phosphate battery as the traction battery, which is noted for high durability and load resistance. This is particularly important for a pickup designed for tough operating conditions. More detailed technical specifications, including electric-only range and transmission type, have not yet been revealed.
The Great Wall Cannon PHEV is expected to become part of the brand’s strategy to expand its lineup of electrified utility vehicles. The introduction of a hybrid Cannon seems a logical move: combining pickup truck capabilities with PHEV technology could appeal to both commercial clients and buyers seeking an economical yet genuinely hardy vehicle.
