Zeekr officials said “slow is fast”, describing the current situation around the 8X plug-in hybrid SUV development cycle. It is currently in the large-scale pre-production testing phase and requires more time to enter the market. However, the 8X’s planned information release schedule was disrupted.
The Zeekr 8X crossover was exposed by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in January 2026. Later, interior images of this model leaked online. Zeekr officials shared that such content surfaced prematurely, disrupting the planned information release schedule.
The Zeekr 8X boasts a body length of 5.1 meters
Zeekr shared that it follows the philosophy of “slow is fast”, pointing out that “good cars are worth the wait.” With this statement, the Geely-owned high-end brand clearly addresses the problem of the constantly shortening development cycle of new models in China. According to analytics firms like J.D. Power, this issue led to an increase in quality-related problems.
Zeekr shared that it strictly follows the standards of Geely’s quality verification system to ensure the 8X delivers reliable performance and quality. After the car completes all-scenario testing and supply quality management, Zeekr will be ready to take the next step.
The company’s officials highlighted that the Zeekr 8X will enter the market in H1 2026. However, the exact timing has yet to be revealed. There is a chance that the brand’s second PHEV will be revealed at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 in late April.
