LEAWOOD, Kan. (KCTV) – A new helmet rule is coming to the streets of Leawood.
Monday night, the Leawood City Council approved an ordinance that requires riders under 18 years old to wear helmets on e-bikes and e-scooters.
Leawood’s Police Chief, Brad Robbins, introduced the idea in January following complaints from residents about teenagers driving recklessly and violating traffic laws.
In October 2025, new rules for e-scooter riders were introduced in Shawnee, Kansas.
