Chinese automaker XPeng sold a total of 253 vehicles last month in Denmark, a 43.8% increase from a year ago, when the brand registered 176 units.

According to data published by Mobility Denmark and data tracking platform EU-EVs, registrations more than halved from the 630 vehicles sold in December.

January sales are typically lower in the auto industry, following increased demand ahead of the year-end.

Danish Launch

Following its European market debut in Norway, XPeng expanded into Denmark in April 2022, when it opened its first store in the capital, Copenhagen. The P5 compact sedan was the first model to be introduced in the nation.

However, two months later, the Chinese automaker suspended all reservations and pre-orders of the model in Europe.

In late 2022, the brand signed an agreement with the Swedish technology solutions provider OmniCar to handle servicing, repairs, and warranty support for all its EVs sold in the Danish market.

Lineup

XPeng introduced the G9 full-size SUV and the P7 sports sedan across Europe in early 2023. Orders for the more affordable G6 SUV in Denmark opened in May 2024.

On January 9, XPeng launched the updated P7+ model simultaneously across 36 markets.

In Denmark, the model is priced from DKK 359,995 ($56,900). The G6 SUV’s pricing begins at DKK 299,995($47,400), while the more expensive G9 starts at DKK 499,995 ($79,100).

According to the company, the first batch of P7+ vehicles has been shipped to Europe earlier this week.

Last year, XPeng registered a total of 3,908 EVs in Denmark, with December marking the strongest month of the year.

The company was ranked the number one Chinese brand in Denmark, with its G6 model being named the “most popular Chinese car of 2025,” XPeng announced last week via its official LinkedIn account.

The automaker crossed the 5000-unit delivery milestone in the Danish market last July. In neighboring Germany, it surpassed 3,000 cumulative deliveries last week.

Denmark EV Adoption

On the last day of January, the Federation of Danish Motorists (FDM) announced that the number of electric vehicles surpassed that of diesel cars on the national roads.

This marked a key milestone in the Nordic country’s electrification plans. FDM’s Consumer Economist Ilyas Dogru explained via LinkedIn that the change was powered by the EVs’ “lower prices, policy certainty, and a fast-growing charging network.”

According to the latest data from Mobility Denmark, 12,803 new passenger cars were registered in the country last month.

The figures rose 18.2% compared to January 2025. “2026 has started positively for the car market, and January shows clear growth compared to last year.

This is a solid foundation for the coming months,” Mobility Denmark‘s CEO Mads Rørvig stated.

Of the total registrations, 10,618 were EVs, representing 82.9% of the market — which indicates that four in each five new vehicles sold were fully electric.

According to the platform, the delay of the planned tax increases on electric cars, initially scheduled to become effective at the start of the year, is one of the reasons behind the jump.

Just behind Norway, Denmark currently has the second-strongest results in terms of EV adoption worldwide.

Last month, Toyota‘s bZ4X SUV was the best-selling model in Denmark, achieving 1,348 registrations. The Skoda Elroq compact SUV secured second place with 804 units, while Tesla‘s Model Y took third with 454.

European Expansion

Currently, with over 1,000 stores worldwide, XPeng expanded its footprint to 60 countries and regions, doubling its presence in one year.

Of the total stores, 380 are outside China, with 290 of them located in 28 European markets.

Apart from expanding its retail network and portfolio in Europe, XPeng also began assembling two of its models with Magna Steyr in its Graz factory, in Austria last September.

After the G6 model, the company announced that it has completed trial production of the P7+ in the plant.

Later this year, the Chinese automaker plans to launch more models in Europe, including the Mona series, as confirmed by founder and CEO He Xiaopeng at last year’s IAA Auto Show, and the X9 MPV, which is set to debut “mid-year” in the UK.
