SIX-EV, an African electric mobility company, has announced the delivery of an initial 2,000 units of award-winning electric motorcycles through its partnership with global electric vehicle manufacturer BNC Motors to serve Ghana’s fast-growing commercial transport and delivery sector.

The delivery, announced in Accra, marks a major milestone in a long-standing strategic collaboration between the two companies, aimed at developing electric mobility solutions tailored specifically to African operating conditions.

The motorcycles are the result of years of co-engineering and product development, combining BNC Motors’ globally recognised electric motorcycle technology with SIX-EV’s local market insights and understanding of African riders, fleet operators and road conditions.

According to Regina Odei Asante, Head of Customer Acquisitions at SIX-EV, the deal is not merely about supply but a long-term collaboration with BNC Motors to develop electric motorcycles suited to African riders’ economic needs while ensuring high performance, safety and reliability.

“This is not just a supply agreement. It is the result of a long-term design and product collaboration. Together with BNC Motors, we have refined an electric motorcycle that meets the economic realities of African riders while delivering world-class performance, safety and reliability,” she stated.

The motorcycles have been adapted for durability, rider comfort and commercial use, with reinforced frames, optimised suspension systems for rough urban and peri-urban roads, improved payload capacity and energy-efficient powertrains.

They are also designed to support battery-swapping and high-utilisation fleet operations, making them suitable for delivery services and commercial riders.

She added that “as part of the phased roll-out, SIX-EV will also introduce new motorcycle variants equipped with Musashi’s advanced E-Axle motor technology. These next-generation models reflect the partners’ continued commitment to innovation and localisation for African operating conditions.”

The Musashi E-Axle combines the motor, inverter and transmission into a single compact unit, improving energy efficiency, enhancing torque performance and reducing overall mechanical complexity.

For commercial riders, this technology is expected to deliver longer range per charge, improved torque, lower maintenance costs and enhanced reliability, key factors for fleet operators seeking to reduce operating expenses.

Shekhar Fernando, Head of International Markets at BNC Motors, said Africa is a key growth market for electric mobility, noting that the long-standing partnership with SIX-EV enables joint design for local needs, with Ghana serving as a strategic starting point.

“Africa represents one of the most important growth markets for electric mobility. Our long-standing collaboration with SIX-EV allows us to design with, not just for, the African market. Ghana is a key launchpad and this initial 2,000-unit delivery is only the beginning,” he mentioned.

BNC Motors’ electric motorcycles have previously received international recognition for innovation, safety and sustainability. Through the partnership, these award-winning platforms have been further localised to support Ghana’s commercial transport and logistics sector as operators seek alternatives to rising fuel costs and emissions.

The motorcycles will be deployed primarily within delivery services, ride-for-hire operations and logistics fleets, supported by SIX-EV’s broader ecosystem of charging infrastructure, battery-swapping services, fleet management solutions and after-sales support.

As Ghana moves toward cleaner and more cost-effective transport solutions, the SIX-EV–BNC Motors partnership is being positioned as a model for global-local collaboration in scaling electric mobility across Africa.
