Lucid Motors registered a single vehicle in the Netherlands in January — a Gravity SUV — with zero Air sedans sold for the second time in three months.
The company established its European headquarters in the Netherlands in 2021 as it prepared to enter the continent and opened its first European Service, Delivery, and Sales Center in the final weeks of 2022.
The January Gravity registration was likely for press, test drive, or showroom purposes, as Lucid had not announced European deliveries of the SUV as of Sunday.
Slower EV Sales
The weak result came as the Dutch EV market declined 35.4% year over year to 7,165 units, according to data released Sunday by industry associations RAI, BOVAG, and RDC.
EV market share fell to 25.3% from 34% a year earlier as the country reduced electric vehicle subsidies effective from the first day of 2026.
The motor vehicle tax exemption for zero-emission passenger cars was replaced with a 30% discount through 2028, dropping to 25% in 2029 before ending entirely in 2030.
In January, the Kia EV3 led EV sales with 315 registrations, followed by the Tesla Model Y with 293 units and the Volvo’s entry level fully electric SUV EX30 with 278.
Hybrid vehicles dominated the Dutch market with 17,571 registrations, capturing 62% market share, as total new car registrations fell 13.1% to 28,347 units.
Gravity
According to Lucid‘s Dutch website, some Gravity SUV configurations show delivery waiting times of four to eight weeks, while others are listed for the second quarter of the year.

The management had said in September that it planned to begin European deliveries of the SUV in January.
Model year 2025 Lucid Airs are available for delivery in two weeks, while the newest 2026 edition has delivery waiting times ranging from four weeks to the second quarter.
“The expected delivery date is indicative and may change. The final delivery date will be discussed and determined with your Delivery Advisor,” the EV maker says on its website for the Dutch market.
2025 Performance
Lucid registered 53 vehicles in the Netherlands last year, a slight increase from 47 units in 2024, as demand for the Air sedan on the continent remains weaker than expected.
Three years after its official market launch, the company continues to struggle to ramp up sales.
The premium EV brand sold 14 vehicles in December, rebounding from zero registrations in November.
After beginning the year with 15 registrations in the first quarter — 12 of them in March, its highest monthly result in the Netherlands until now — quarterly sales tumbled to 10 vehicles in the second quarter and just nine in the third.
Gravity Rollout
In September, Lucid opened European orders for the three-row Gravity SUV, priced from €102,900 in the Netherlands. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this month.
Interim CEO Marc Winterhoff suggested at the Gravity’s European debut in Munich that initial units could reach customers before year-end.
Lucid registered two Gravity vehicles in December and one earlier in the year. It remains unclear if those units were delivered to customers or registered for showroom or press purposes, as the brand has not announced the start of European deliveries.
Product Lineup
Lucid currently offers the Air sedan in the Netherlands in Pure, Touring, and Grand Touring trims — all from the 2025 model year as the company works through existing inventory.
According to the company’s website, the 2025 Air Pure starts at €72,853 ($86,300) before tax, the Touring at €85,167, and the Grand Touring at €109,961.
The high-performance Sapphire variant is priced at €255,000 — equivalent to $302,200.
European Footprint
The Netherlands serves as one of four markets Lucid operates in Europe, alongside Germany, Norway, and Switzerland.
The company established its European headquarters in the Netherlands in 2021 as it prepared to enter the continent.
Lucid opened its first European service, delivery, and sales center — the Lucid Studio in Hilversum — in December 2022.
The brand will triple its continental footprint to 12 countries.
Winterhoff confirmed that France will be included in the rollout, while Europe President Lawrence Hamilton said Belgium and Denmark will also be among the new markets.
According to EU-EVs, which reports daily vehicle registrations across several European markets, Lucid registered three Air sedans in Spain in November and one more in December ahead of the market launch.
