Media reports indicate that Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology has launched an electric sports car inspired by Lotus design, which will be marketed in Europe as the SC01 and in China under the name JMEV 01. The electric sports car was first unveiled in September 2022, but the project subsequently remained dormant for some time. The model was eventually launched in China in April 2025—and is set to arrive in Europe in 2026. Against this backdrop, the Chinese manufacturer has recently released the first official images.
Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology (TGAT) is a startup reportedly backed by Xiaomi. As TGAT does not hold its own manufacturing licence in China, the company collaborates with Jiangling Motors Electric Vehicle (JMEV) for its home market, which explains the model’s name, JMEV 01, in China. The Chinese version of the car features a 320 kW all-wheel-drive system and 560 Nm of torque. With a weight of just under 1.4 tonnes, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
According to InsideEVs, the European model will also feature all-wheel drive and is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds while weighing under 1.4 tonnes. However, further performance data is not yet available, and the figures from China can only serve as a rough guide. This is because the development of the European version is being carried out independently of the Chinese project, as stated by the manufacturer. Italy has been mentioned as the production location, with a focus on ‘select European markets.’ Currently, prototypes of the European version are said to be completing the validation phase. One detail is already confirmed: production of the European SC01 will be limited to 1,000 units. Additionally, part of this small series will reportedly be reserved for motorsport.
The JMEV 01, already available in China, measures 4.10 x 1.83 x 1.17 metres with a wheelbase of 2.5 metres. The model features a tubular frame chassis and, with its 320 kW output (one Enpower electric motor per axle, each delivering 160 kW), supports a top speed of up to 200 km/h. The NMC battery pack from CALB, installed behind the two front seats, offers a capacity of 60 kWh and is said to provide a range of around 500 kilometres—presumably according to the Chinese CLTC test cycle.
