Bengaluru: Oben Electric, India’s fastest-growing R&D-driven electric motorcycle manufacturer, marked National Road Safety Month with a city-led initiative titled #SaluteAtSignal, honouring Bengaluru Traffic Police, the frontline force ensuring safety, order, and movement across one of India’s busiest urban road networks.
The week-long initiative was conducted at some of Bengaluru’s most demanding traffic junctions, including Sony Signal, Koramangala, and Vydehi Signal, Whitefield, prompting commuters to pause at red lights and acknowledge the officers managing traffic under high-pressure conditions. Through simple actions — switching on parking or hazard lights, refraining from honking, and remaining stationary — participants created a visible, collective tribute to traffic police personnel on duty.
Thousands of commuters participated over the week, transforming congestion into moments of empathy and respect. At Sony Signal, Shanoor Nadaf (PC 15996) from Adugodi Traffic Police Station was recognised for nine years of service, managing nearly one lakh vehicles per shift including five peak hours. At Vydehi Signal, Sangamesh Desai (PC 18308) was honoured for handling 15,000 vehicles per shift across eight peak hours daily. Informational boards at each junction highlighted the officers’ names, designation, years of service, duty hours, and the average number of vehicles managed per shift, giving commuters a tangible understanding of their immense responsibility.
