Omoda 7 Shs-p arrives on the road bringing with it Super Hybrid System Plug-in Hybrid technology, an acronym that can be summed up as a plug-in hybrid motor with a 1.5 petrol engine combined with two electric motors and a battery capable of guaranteeing almost 100 kilometres in all-electric mode.

In terms of dimensions, the Omoda 7 Shs-p claims a length of 4,660 mm, a width of 1,875 mm, a height of 1,670 mm, a wheelbase of 2,730 mm and a mass in running order of 1,945 kg. The engine is powered by the 1.5 Tgdi Miller cycle petrol engine with 143 horsepower and two electric motors – one 204 hp and one 82 hp dedicated to recharging the 18.4 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery – for a total power output of 279 horsepower and an electric range of 92 km in the combined cycle and up to 128 km in urban areas. Capable of covering over 1,200 kilometres on a full tank of fuel and energy, thanks to a declared consumption of 2.3 litres/100 km on a charged battery.

Climb aboard and your attention is caught by the large 15.6-inch central screen, capable of scrolling in front of the passenger in the richer version. The infotainment system is fluid, based on Android Auto and managed by the Snapdragon 8155 processor that makes operations quick and intuitive. The boot claims a capacity of 520 litres, a considerable size but using the various under-floor storage compartments.

On the road, the Omoda 7 Shs-P shows its comfort-oriented nature, with good absorption of bumps and a high level of soundproofing, thanks also to the Sony sound system with noise cancellation. Consumption remains low, with an autonomy really close to 1200 kilometres in total. In terms of performance, it claims a top speed of 180 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint covered in 8.4 seconds. On board one appreciates the quality of construction, both for the front and rear passengers, while with the exception of the sliding screen (which entails the elimination of the storage compartment in front of the passenger), the interior does not shine in terms of originality. But how much does the Omoda 7 Shs-p cost? It starts with the Pure offered at around €39,000 (€38,900) where 19-inch alloy wheels, full-LED headlamps front and rear, 15-inch central display, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, 50-watt wireless smartphone charging and 7 airbags come as standard. Safety equipment includes the full Adas package with 19 assistants including Adaptive Cruise Control, active lane keeping, automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring. The Premium version, for an extra €3,000, adds a sliding centre screen, 20-inch alloy wheels, head-up display, panoramic roof, faux leather interior, electric, ventilated and heated front seats with driver’s side memory function, Sony audio system, electric tailgate and 540° panoramic camera with ‘virtual transparency’ under-body view.
